Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state early analysis show the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.
City officials announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the public for information.
A senior political figure commented the incident left him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in February 2020.
